Many businesses end up with more than one WhatsApp number: one for sales and one for support, one per branch, or one per country. Juggling them across phones gets messy fast. There are three ways to handle it, and the right one depends on how many numbers you have and how many people answer them.

| Option | Best for | Where it runs out |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Two accounts on one phone | One person, two numbers | Two numbers, one person at a time |
| WhatsApp Web on several devices | A few people, a few numbers | No shared view, no assignment, no reports |
| A multi-number team inbox | Teams answering several numbers | Paid, usually priced per number or per user |

## 1. Two accounts on one phone

The official WhatsApp app supports [two accounts on the same phone](https://faq.whatsapp.com/492167569769444), on Android and iPhone. Open Settings, tap the arrow next to your name, then Add account. The second account needs its own number, so you'll need a second SIM or an eSIM. Many owners also run WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business app side by side, each with its own number.

This works well for one person with two numbers, such as a personal line and a business line. It doesn't help when several people need to answer the same number.

## 2. WhatsApp Web on several devices

Each WhatsApp account can link [up to four devices](https://faq.whatsapp.com/378279804439436), such as computers running WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. To see several numbers on one computer, open each one in its own browser profile.

It's free and quick to set up, but it gets hard to manage as you grow:

- Every linked device sees every chat on that number, and there's no way to assign a chat to one person.
- Replies go out as the business, so you can't tell who answered, and two people may answer the same message.
- There's no combined view across numbers and no reporting.
- Linked devices log out if the phone isn't used for more than 14 days.

## 3. A multi-number team inbox

A team inbox connects all your numbers to one place, where your team shares the work. This is what HaberChat does:

- **One place for every number.** See chats from every connected number, each with its own contact list and stats.
- **Clear ownership.** Assign each chat to a teammate, or let HaberChat assign chats automatically (Business plan and up).
- **Shared context.** Private notes, labels and quick replies that the whole team can use.
- **Who replied.** [Signatures](https://app.haber.chat/help/signatures) can add the agent's name to each reply.
- **Automation.** Scheduled messages and campaigns, plus an API and webhooks if you want to connect your own systems.

Each number connects by QR code from the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app, or through the official API. A QR connection uses one of the number's four linked-device slots, so don't remove it by mistake when you link a new device.

Other tools do this too. We compare them in our guides to [TimelinesAI alternatives](https://haber.chat/blog/timelinesai-alternatives) and [Wati alternatives](https://haber.chat/blog/wati-alternatives).

## How to set it up in HaberChat

1. Start a [free 7-day trial](https://haber.chat/signup-gateway). No credit card needed.
2. Connect your first number: open WhatsApp on the phone, go to Linked devices, tap Link a device and scan the QR code shown in HaberChat.
3. Invite your teammates and decide who handles which chats.
4. Add your other numbers. Each number has its own plan, so you pay only for the numbers you use. The trial covers one number.

## What it costs

HaberChat is priced per number, with teammates included: Professional is $47.40 a month for 3 teammates, Business $82.90 for 6 and Enterprise $120.40 for 9 (checked September 28, 2026). Two numbers on the Business plan come to $165.80 a month. [See all plans](https://haber.chat/pricing).

## Tips for running several numbers

- Give each number one clear purpose, such as sales, support or a branch, and say so in its WhatsApp profile.
- Agree who owns each number's chats, during and after business hours.
- Set an away message or automatic reply for times when nobody is online.
- Track first response time per number, so no inbox gets neglected.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I use two WhatsApp numbers on one phone?

Yes. The official WhatsApp app supports two accounts on one phone, on Android and iPhone. The second account needs its own number, from a second SIM or an eSIM. You can also run WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business app side by side.

### How many devices can use one WhatsApp number?

The main phone plus up to four linked devices. Linked devices keep working when the phone is offline, but log out if the phone isn't used for more than 14 days.
