# How to Share One WhatsApp Business Number With Your Team

Customers want one number to message, but one person can't answer every chat. There are two ways to share a WhatsApp Business number: link more devices to the same account, or connect the number to a team inbox. Linked devices are free and fine for two or three people. A team inbox is what you need once you have to know who's handling which chat.

## Option 1: Linked devices (free)

A WhatsApp Business account can be open on your main phone plus [up to four linked devices](https://faq.whatsapp.com/378279804439436): computers running WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, tablets, or even [a second phone](https://faq.whatsapp.com/1046791737425017). Everyone on a linked device sees the same chats and replies as the business.

### How to link a device

1. On your teammate's computer, open web.whatsapp.com or the WhatsApp desktop app. A QR code appears.
2. On the business phone, open WhatsApp Business and go to Linked devices. On Android it's under the three-dot menu; on iPhone it's in Settings.
3. Tap Link a device and scan the QR code.

### Where linked devices fall short

- **Four devices at most.** A fifth person has to share a device or wait.
- **No assignment.** Everyone sees every chat, so two people may answer the same customer, or nobody does.
- **No record of who replied.** Every message goes out as the business, with no agent name.
- **No reports.** You can't see response times or who handled what.
- **The phone still matters.** Linked devices keep working when the phone is offline, but they log out if the phone isn't used for more than 14 days.

## Option 2: A team inbox

A team inbox connects your number once and gives each teammate their own login. In HaberChat you connect the WhatsApp Business app by scanning a QR code, or connect through the official API, then invite your team.

## Tips for sharing a number

- Use a dedicated business number, not someone's personal one. Everyone with access sees every chat.
- Decide who covers which hours, and set an away message for the rest.
- Agree on quick replies for common questions, so the whole team sounds the same.
